I arrived at Nelson bay this arvo all pumped to snorkel and kayak but a 30 knot westerley is blowin my afternoon away atm. Nelson bay is approx 80 k's north of Newcastle and is on Port Stephens inlet.
I was here in early February and found the best ever snorkelling spot straight off the beach, heaps of fish. So I was keen to come back to have another go. Theres always tomorrow I suppose. Also 1st time for the kayak here too.
In the last week since leaving the snow high country I went north of Jindabyne through the Koscioszko NP, to the Jenolan caves area and then into the Blue mountains area and nat park, went on the train to Sydney from Blue Mtns for the day, into an area of the Wollemi NP north of Blue Mtns and finally driven east to the coast today.
I will now be following the coast north back home by xmas. But some serious kayak and snorkelling along the way first before then...

Dunns swamp, Wollemi Nat Park. This river was dammed in the 1920's. Parts of it have high cliffs so like a canyon..Spent 2 hrs kayaking here and had a nice swim too.. |
