GOODAY FROM NEAR CRESCENT HEAD

Thursday 12 December 2013

Hey another week has passed.  I am at Goolawah Nat Park atm near Crescent Head down on the coast from Kempsey.
A week ago I was at  Nelson Bay town and did some great snorkelling and kayaking on Port Stephens.  I have since been to Seal rocks, great surf swim spot, the Lakes district of Myall, Smith and Wallis Lakes and Hastings river for some serious kayaking.   Went snorkelling at Forster, Crowdy Head and Port Macquarie, checked out beaches between Forster and Port Macquarie and Crescent Head for surf swims.

Basically having a good time, kayak, snorkel and swimming every day and of course great weather here most of the time too which helps a lot!

I need to advise I have been to a lot of these places when heading south back in February so I have not taken hardly any new pictures.  You will have to go to the blog and click on early February posts to see some pictures of the above areas.

Two weeks till xmas,  woooooo!!

GOODAY FROM NELSON BAY

Thursday 5 December 2013

I arrived at Nelson bay this arvo all pumped to snorkel and kayak but a 30 knot westerley is blowin my afternoon away atm.  Nelson bay is approx 80 k's north of Newcastle and is on Port Stephens inlet.

I was here in early February and found the best ever snorkelling spot straight off the beach, heaps of fish.  So I was keen to come back to have another go.  Theres always tomorrow I suppose.  Also 1st time for the kayak here too.

In the last week since leaving the snow high country I went north of Jindabyne through the Koscioszko NP, to the Jenolan caves area and then into the Blue mountains area and nat park, went on the train to Sydney from Blue Mtns for the day, into an area of the Wollemi NP north of Blue Mtns and finally driven east to the coast today.

I will now be following the coast north back home by xmas.  But some serious kayak and snorkelling along the way first before then...

Lake Jindabyne, went kayaking here

Mt Bogong

The Mt Bogong walk was only 4k's to the top, sounds easy but the whole walk was straight up, steep as. Took me about 2.5 hrs. but worth the view.

An alpine hut on the walk. These are allover the mountains mainly in case of emergency or change in weather conditions during winter as a safe place to go

Coming out of the tree line onto the alpine open area, no more trees

Some snow near the top

I made a snow thing for you!
